Museum of Freemasonry is a registered charity. We rely on your kind donations to continue our work. Remembering the Museum by leaving a gift in your will is one of the most enduring ways in which you can support us, no matter what size the gift.
Our goal is to help everyone learn about freemasonry in all its cultural richness, whether you’re a freemason or not. Your legacy will support the ongoing work of the Museum and help us to expand and care for our collections. It will help us deliver exciting education programmes, stimulating learning for all ages. It will also support increased accessibility through creative public exhibitions and facilitating world-class research.
Legacy giving doesn’t need to be complicated. You may find the suggested wording below useful when preparing or updating your will with your solicitor:
Pecuniary Gifts:
“I give the sum of {amount in words} (£_____ [amount in figures]) to the Board of Trustees of The Library and Museum Charitable Trust of the Board of General Purposes of the United Grand Lodge of England (Museum of Freemasonry) Freemasons’ Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5AZ (registered charity number 1058497) absolutely for its general charitable purposes. My Trustees shall have no further duties relating to this benefit if they obtain a written receipt from the treasurer or other appropriate officer of Museum of Freemasonry.”
Residuary Gifts:
“I give {state proportion e.g. 25 percent} of the residue of my estate to the Board of Trustees of The Library and Museum Charitable Trust of the Board of General Purposes of the United Grand Lodge of England (Museum of Freemasonry) Freemasons’ Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5AZ (registered charity number 1058497) absolutely for its general charitable purposes. My Trustees shall have no further duties relating to this benefit if they obtain a written receipt from the treasurer or other appropriate officer of Museum of Freemasonry.”
We would recommend that you always speak to your solicitor when writing or amending your will. This will ensure your wishes are accurately expressed; they can also advise you about inheritance tax.
